What is an Energy Treasure Hunt?
Teams of employees, students or stakeholders engage in an energy treasure hunt throughout a building - such as a school, hospital or manufacturing facility - to identify and uncover energy-saving opportunities. The goal is to locate areas where energy is being wasted and to recommend measures to reduce energy consumption and costs.
Treasure Hunt Origins
In 2019, a “Find the Treasure” campaign was launched by ENERGY STAR to promote energy treasure hunts for public and private facilities, including manufacturing facilities, healthcare campuses, office buildings, government buildings and educational campuses. Since its launch, over $60 million in energy savings has been found and 614,824.85 GHG (metric tons CO2e) has been avoided!
